Engage the Marketplace
God-honoring business is at the heart of any approach to reducing poverty. A sustainable job allows a person to feed, clothe and educate his family and save for the future. Ethical businesses serve people throughout their communities by producing goods and services that people need.
CMF has spent more than 15 years researching and implementing “business as mission” as a strategy for working in countries that are closed to missionaries and traditional mission methods for political, religious or social reasons.
Our Marketplace Ministry team members work in three Asian countries that are closed to missionaries. They serve the poor in urban slums and rural villages, teach the Bible in English classes for children and adults, lead home Bible studies, and share marriage, parenting and health information from a Christian perspective, all while building the relationships that are so important to sharing the Gospel in these cultures.
The marketplace strategy is now expanding as part of our holistic approach to missions in countries that are open to missionaries. A primary objective is to foster economic transformation and discipleship through the development of Kingdom businesses, with a focus on training and discipling future entrepreneurs. We hope to connect Christian business people with Christian entrepreneurs on all our ministry fields to create new business ventures that will lead to jobs and economic Kingdom transformation.
